AND IN THAT MOMENT, I SWEAR WE WERE INFINITE

Nighteye is a weblog written by Dennis Ihlemann, a 21-year-old design aficionado hailing from Denmark. This site is a collection of his thoughts on movies, games, music, television, technology, anime, books, design, photography, typography, life, etc. Oh, and with a bit of lolcat thrown in here and there for good measure.

Chicken Dinner

Chinese Democracy

A new Guns N’ Roses track supposedly titled “Chicken Dinner” leaked yesterday and it’s fucking awesome! It’s very industrial and at first I didn’t know what to think of it, but halfway through the song (as the chorus had kicked in) I was blown away. I hope this is on the album. It could just be a demo though, because the leaked tracks are said to be just that, but they’re so great that many people think they’re finished. You never know, but damn this kicks ass. And the art work is pretty awesome too, even though it’s apparently fan made.

UPDATE:

It’s not called “Chicken Dinner”. It’s probably “Shackler’s Revenge”, the first single that will soon debut in Rock Band 2, and I’ve also heard it’s just a demo.

Champion

I’m not a big fan of Kanye West, but I did like Graduation (and the cover art by Takashi Murakami), so that’s why I’m here to let you know that his brand new music video for “Champion” has been released. I’m not sure I like the changes in the song compared to the album version though.

Delicious Redesign

Delicious

The website formerly known as del.icio.us can now simply be found at delicious.com and it’s sporting a brand new and in my opinion improved design. I hate to say this and I apologize, but it simply looks delicious. You can read all about what’s new here.

UPDATE:

I completely forgot that I have an account there, it’s just been a while (more than two years) since I used it.

The New Facebook

Facebook

I don’t use Facebook all that often anymore, but sometimes it can be fun no doubt about it. Having seen previews of the new redesign prior to it’s actual introduction to the public, I was a bit nervous about some of the things I saw.

OBSERVATIONS

  • I hate the new home design. It’s too wide. The sidebar is decent though.
  • The profile page (also the most important) is much better. I love the tabs and the fact that the applications are out of the way, but overall the wideness of it all makes for a slightly more confusing layout.

I’m liking some of the new stuff, hating some too. Considering how great the previous design was I have faith that they’ll listen to what people are saying and possibly change some of it for the better.

Download Coldplay’s New Single

Coldplay

The new Coldplay single Violet Hill from the upcoming album Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, which will be released June 12th, can be downloaded for free on their website. It will be available for a week and after that you have to pay. Not sure if I like it yet, but I think it might grow on me though. The beginning reminds me a lot of Phantom Planet’s California.

Panic at the Disco Concert!

Panic at the Disco

Last night me and my girlfriend went to the Panic concert in Vega, Copenhagen. We almost didn’t go though.

A few days ago I started feeling sick, but fortunately I felt a bit better yesterday and seeing as the tickets were already paid for it would be a shame not to go. I’m glad we did, because I kinda forgot I didn’t feel so well for a few hours.

Below are 2 videos we recorded.

They played some of their new stuff, which I’m not sure I like yet. I have a feeling it’s gonna sound better when I hear the studio versions though, because Nine in the Afternoon didn’t sound as great live as the studio version. I love the MP3 file of the song I bought (came with the deluxe edition of the CD I pre-ordered), but I just didn’t feel it last night. The old songs were amazing to hear live though!

From the upcoming album they played the following songs: We’re So Starving, Nine in the Afternoon, That Green Gentleman, She’s A Handsome Woman and Wild As Rabbits.

I’ve read great things about their next single, which is That Green Gentleman:

God knows what the budget was for ‘Pretty. Odd’, but if it cost anything less than a million dollars to record, then the band have done well, because it certainly sounds it. This one sounds HUGE, as though Disney had decided to re-record ‘High School Musical’ with The Polyphonic Spree. Only infinitely better than that sounds.

The song was pretty good, quite catchy actually, but nothing like that description whatsoever! But as I said I have a feeling it’s because they were missing a lot of instrumentation like violion and whatever.

So the best parts was definitely their old stuff from A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out and it felt kinda weird hearing the new songs in between the old ones because they’re so different, but other than that it was awesome.

The Killers - Sam’s Town [2006]

[rating:3.5]
I liked The Killers’ “Somebody Told Me”, I thought the song “On Top” kicked ass and to this date I’m still in love with the song “Mr. Brightside”. But those three songs aside I wasn’t particular crazy about their 2004 album Hot Fuss. There were maybe two other songs I’d listen to from time to time and I hated that, it was a shame, because I really liked The Killers when they were at their best.

When I first heard the single “When You Were Young” from their upcoming album Sam’s Town, I thought it was pretty good. Listening to it again - very good. Listening to it again - AWESOME! I love the song and I’m sad to say I probably think it’s the best song on the album. But below are some other I enjoy and REALLY like, if not love already.

Bling (Confessions Of A King)

My favorite song along with “When You Were Young”, but most people who know who The Killers are, have probably listening to that track. “Bling” is a really good song in my opinion and I liked it during my first listen.

Bones

From what I can understand this will be the next single and all I can say is that I’m not sure I agree with that choice. While WYWY was a perfect choice as a first single, I wouldn’t choose this one as the second. NOT to say that the song is not good, but I think that other songs would be better.

Read My Mind

A nice and quiet track that reminds me a lot of the band Bloc Party, which I also love.

This River Is Wild

One of the better songs.

My List

The first minute of the song is pretty boring, but later on it gets pretty good.

For Reasons Unknown

Another good song.

Sam’s Town

Before listening to the songs I was sure that this song would be the next single, but there are better ones on the album.

UPDATE: Changed my rating from 4 to 3.5. It just feels like the right rating.

LED Integrated Into Fabric

Thought this new technology by Phillips was pretty cool. They’ve integrated LED light into shirts, couches and more. I thought the couch in particular, that showed the time, looked pretty futuristic.. heck everything in the video did! People started wearing those LED belts a while back, I wonder how long it takes for the shirts to show up.
