I really want to have a dog sometime and I’ve made my decision as to which breed to get when the time comes: the Japanese Shiba Inu.
The Shiba Inu was developed in Japan, to flush birds and small game and occasionally used to hunt wild boar. Now they are primarily kept as pets, both in Japan and the US. Quite possibly, a Shiba puppy is the most appealing of any of the dog breeds. It has been said that a Shiba looks like a live teddy bear. But the Shiba is not a toy - it is a very lively little dog with a unique set of characteristics.
So, why do I like the Shiba breed so much? First of all I’m in love with its almost fox-like appearance and the way it seems to carry itself with pride. It’s known for being intelligent and agile and is currently ranked as the number one companion dog in Japan and are also known for being excellent watchdogs. Plus they’re small and cute and are sometimes described as cat-like, which is never a bad thing if you love cats as much as I do.
Speaking of money Shiba dogs are priced at around the equivalent of $1,500 - $2,000 here in Denmark and are quite rare, so it’s not something I’ll just go ahead and do. But it’s nice to know what kind of dog I want and there’s no doubt about it, it has to be this one.
I also just realized that there were several Shibas in my childhood favorite anime Silver Fang.
