I prefer this over the one they showed in theaters, because this one actually has an emotional impact on you. In other words: I think this ending is much better.
I too prepher this ending over the other.
I has, as you said yourself, a much more emotional side to it than the “original” one :-)
(spoiler) I actually like the original more, than this one.. It is emotional and herotic of him to sacrifice himself for the greather good, and in that ending you also know that the cure will prevail..Dennis:
“and in that ending you also know that the cure will prevail..”
… yes, which imo made it a typical lame happy Hollywood ending. And it had apparently nothing to do with the book, which it’s based on. Furthermore I couldn’t stand when she finds the city with all the humans because (if I remember correctly) it had this religious American vibe to it.AnDY:
Billions of people are dead, so I woundt call it your “typical lame happy Hollywood ending”.. and she enters a city, and there is a small speech; nothing too glamorous or nationalistic.. and I have no idea of what that “religious American vibe ” is, you are talking about..
but then again, thats my opinion, and you can have your opinion.. I find “comments brawls” so stupid.Dennis:
I’m talking about the ending, not what has happened prior to the last few minutes of the movie. People were gone from the very beginning of the movie.
Hmm, well I can’t remember everything in detail it just annoyed me that she was this über-believer in that a miracle would happen - and then it did in the end when this mysterious city (on a beautiful day where the sun was shining extra super much) showed up and she hadn’t even heard about it, she just assumed/thought it might be there all along.
Notice how the new ending didn’t have any of that crap?
And you know what they say…
Fighting on the internet is like competing in the special olympics - even if you win you’re still retarded.
““and in that ending you also know that the cure will prevail..”

YES!… exactly my opinion… The Hollywood ending was as all Hollywood endings are: A (relatively) happy ending to a big disaster..
And for the religious part, this movie is crammed full of references to religious stuff. I mean seriously, some of the first words in the movie was “Science brought this upon us for trying to play god”
(quotation altered due to the fact that it has been months since I saw it )
And compared to the book, they’ve altered the concept of him being legend COMPLETELY…
Still a good movie though :-PDennis:
^ Exactly what I was trying to say, you just did a better job :)
And I agree it was a good movie, but whether it’s getting-on-DVD worthy I don’t know yet.
