My Mockup Design

Ever since late May I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a new blog. I bought the domain TokyoNoir.com back then, but didn’t really get anywhere with it.

Fast forward to the beginning of July and I’ve been the owner of Nighteye.org. I had big plans of starting another blog, this time only focusing on Japanese and Korean stuff like movies, gadgets, anime and so on. I didn’t just want this to be a blog, but more of an online magazine. Sadly I haven’t been able to announce that I’ve opened that site either. I wanted to use Wordpress and since there’s not really any magazine style themes out there that I like, I went to several designers and just like I thought, it’s quite expensive to get a good and unique design. I want one eventually, but not now.

I went out of my way to explain to these designers precisely what I want. I created a mockup, it took me about three days and I’m actually damn proud of it. The sad thing is that now I have a pretty good design on my computer, but I don’t know how to make this a working website/blog. The project will have to wait quite a while, so don’t hold your breath.

And here’s what I pictured the feature pages would look like.

Liking that a lot :)

just a couple of things: I think the navigation needs to be a little more prominent, maybe a little bigger in stronger colors. I also think that the newsletter, RSS and contact links at the top are all but useless in that font size.

Other than those two tiny thing I love it. Great work :)

Thanks a lot for the kind words. :-)

While I’m not sure I agree with you about the navigation (I think where I’ve placed it is enough for it to get the attention it needs) I agree with you about the newsletter, rss and contact links. Maybe a bigger font like you suggested and maybe I should place it just above the searchbar. Hmm… you gave me something to think about - thanks for giving some feedback.
