Tintin et Moi (aka Tintin and I) is a documentary by fellow Dane Anders Østergård about Hergé the creator of Tintin, based on interviews by student Numa Sadoul over the course of four days. What began as a simple interview ended up being much more, an in-depth interview and psychoanalysis of Hergé and his life and how it affected Tintin. Now, this might sound boring to a non-Tintin fan (my God, does such a human exist?!), but it’s not. This documentary is for both fans of Tintin but also people who aren’t fans… yet. As they correctly state in the intro “In Tintin, Hergé distilled 50 years of politics, wars and daily life”. Tintin was indeed not created with the sole purpose of entertaining children, I guess that’s why now about ten years later, I still enjoy Tintin as much as I ever did, perhaps just with a different view of the world than back then. The important thing is that no matter how old you are there’s something in Tintin that’s for you.
