I finally had a lucid dream! So, what exactly is that you ask?
Lucid dreaming is the conscious perception of one’s state while dreaming, resulting in a much clearer (”lucid”) experience and sometimes enabling direct control over the content of the dream. The complete experience from start to finish is called a lucid dream. Stephen LaBerge, a popular author and experimenter on the subject, has defined it as “dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming.”
I read about this a few years ago and immediately thought that it was something I wanted to try right away. But appararently not everyone experience this and most people who do this on a regular basis, use various techniques like meditation and hypnosis. All of which were too bothersome for me to even try, so I let it go.
Fast forward to last night and I was having a blast in my dream! Only for a short amount of time that is, but it was something I’ll never forget. In the dream I was at my old school, for whatever reasons, and I suddenly stopped. I think I was running or something, but something made me stop. I thought to myself: this isn’t real… this is just a dream! And when I had that thought I felt this rush in my stomach like if you’re in a rollercoaster and I was suddenly able to change the environment around me. It looked weird no doubt about that, but I could change how everything looked. I began to fly. I flew very high and far until I woke up.
It took me a while when I woke up realizing what had just happened, but man, I SO wanna try that again.
UNLESS!… unless of course I was merely dreaming that I knew I was dreaming. Whoa, spooky…
While searching a bit on the web I found this Lucid Dream Workshop, that apparently can help you direct your dreams. Sounds crazy to me, but who knows, maybe it’ll work?
