I have been following the AnimeOnly project since October last year and what a ride! The weird thing is that I haven’t contributed in any way except joining their mailing list, thus been updated on what’s going on behind the scenes a total of 15 times. About an hour ago I was informed that the first Danish On-Demand IPTV-channel has aired!
It’s been tough reading about Henrik’s (the main man behind the project) failures and the cold and cruel business world, which only cares about money, whereas all he wanted to do was bring anime to the people, because he simply loves it. There were times when it was hard to read about his frustrations. There were huge problems with the Japanese business people he and the crew were in contact with, for instance when they finally got the final tapes and they thought that they would begin airing soon, but then they were told that they would have to sub the episodes themselves. Apparently it was also a pain getting the Japanese to understand that anime is not that big of a deal here, yet and that they would not lose a lot of money because of piracy. And it was also hard to get them to understand that most anime series can already be downloaded from virtually any bittorrent site out there. They wanted money, and lots of it.
But now that’s all over. Now it’s time to look ahead. :-D
The first Anime series they got a hold of is called Zaion: I wish you were here.
In the future, a meteor crashes into Earth and brings with it a virulent form of life. This virus is known as M34 and attacks humans, turning them into vicious monsters. Most of the human population is wiped out, thus government agencies are formed to fight the virus. One of the groups, NOA, inserts nanomachines into the bodies of its soldiers; these machines allow them to transform and fight off the infected. Unfortunately, the virus mutates and becomes too strong for NOA to handle. Now the fate of the world rests in the hands of 16-year-old girl with the power to defeat the virus.

And the best part is that it’s REALLY good quality. The screenshots gives a pretty good idea about just how good it looks. If you choose to stream the 512KBit version, then it’s 99% DVD-quality. Not too shabby, in fact I’m blown away! Great job guys. Best of luck, you deserve this!
