The latest Japanese show I’m watching is called 1 Litre of Tears/Ichi Ritoru no Namida and is so far absolutely fantastic!
15-year-old Ikeuchi Aya was an ordinary girl, the daughter of a family who works at a tofu shop, and a soon-to-be high schooler. However, odd things have been happening to Aya lately. She has been falling down often and walks strange. Her mother, Shioka, takes Aya to see the doctor, and he informs Shioka that Aya has spinocerebellar degeneration - a terrible disease where the brain gradually deteriorates to the point where the victim cannot walk, speak, write, or eat. A cruel disease, as it does not affect the mind in the least. How will Aya react when told about her disease? And how will Aya live from now on?
If it gets more sad than it has been so far (I’m about to start watching episode 5) I don’t know if I can go on. OK, that’s probably a bit exaggerated, but anybody who’s watched it know what I mean and it really IS sad.
It’s so good that I decided to put up a gallery and also added the insert song from the show: Konayuki by Remioromen.
It’s stories like these that reminds me how lucky I am to be alive, and that’s not such a bad thing, now is it?
UPDATE: The insert song is no longer included in the gallery, as it’s been a month, and now over 500 hits later the song has generated over 2 giga-bytes of bandwith. But the pictures will still be there. I even plan to build a new gallery with screenshots I’ve taken myself from all 11 episodes. So keep an eye out on the frontpage.

This drama series is so sad but still good. ^^ *sigh* I feel so sorry for Aya, she was a great person, i would actually say a great hero. A lot of people look up to her thinking *How can I be as strong as Aya..* When i was watching episode 10 part 2, I cried a lot, I dunno why. xD Well, anyways, for the people that didn’t watch this, please watch it! it’s fantastic.

I think episode 8 was the saddest. Like when all the students ran out (Asou as the leader) and began singing? I bawled like a baby and as the episodes continued to dwindle down, I cried more. How sad.

I watched it and I thought it was great. :) I cried alot in the episode when Aya’s brother had the soocer game and he didn’t speak up to her when his soccer mates were making fun of her. And when Asou-kan or whatever that guys name is said that he liked her in the disability school, I cried alot. Haha and I watched all 11 episodes in one day.

What’s wrong with that torrent on D-Addicts? Maybe it’s just me, but I find 3 seeds and 3 peers, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

Hey, Denis, I don’t know what different between Remioromen - 3/9 with Quartet and Remioromen - 3/9.
And the ost list that u gave, it’s actually vocalless when u download at D-Addict, I have that also.
And also, if u don’t know how to use BitTorrent, try this: www.Bitcomet.com, I’m using this. I incredible GOOD. With user friendly interface, that’s why I like it. U can also use FAST SEARCH –> this is the best. And auto integrated .bittorrent files –> that’s mean u can automatic download bittorrent file. juz like a internet downloader. that’s why i like it.
About the seed –> If u connect thru Router, this will not be the best, because u cannot connect directly to your seeder. that’s why u have a small ammount of download speed. and maybe more simple way to explain this: –> Because the torrent did not have too much seeder (3 only) –> so u have only 3 seeder. HA HA

Hi.. i perfectly know about bittorent.. i have a tracker for my group of fansub.. but.. in addicts appears 3 seeders… when you connect nothing happened.. i am actually downloading from that site Taiyou no Uta… the new work of Sawajiri.. and its ok.. but the torrent with the 1. liter.. OST is about 3 days right now and only download 14.1 %

These are 2 parts of a special about the real AYA. And some behind the scenes of the drama.
From You Tube (It’s basically a 18min TV special of the dorama that was screened just before the first episode of the dorama. It talks about the real Aya Kidou story in some detail showing many of her old pictures and includes an interview with her mum. Erika Sawajiri and her screen mum also give their comments. The part showing Aya lying at the hospital bed and her mum reading excerpts from the 1L novel to her was quite touching. There are also scenes from the dorama inside. It’s unsubbed though)

is the movie in english? i hope so? but really, it is a very sad tv drama, i almost cried. The main theme of this drama is tell us to look foward! Still remember: “This disease, why did it choose me? Fate. It can’t be put in words. You really can’t make people accept it.” This is the most sadness part.

Very Touching, i’ve never been cried this hard T_T, it’s only 1 Litre of Tears, I guess i can’t watch 1 Gallon of Tears now :)
The story just go flowing and easily understood. And the OST is the best!!! Arigatou Mina-san!!!

I think asou-kun at the last part go back to his high school with the deep memories of his girl friend. At the last part, Aya said “Live-on”, I think Asou-Kun will do that. I don’t understand Japanese at all and I’m sure that’s the case with every single person out there who downloads the fansubbed episodes. There’s no way in hell I’m shelling out $209.25 for the 1 Litre Of Tears boxset (http://global.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/code-j/section-videos/pid-1004122433/) if I don’t understand anything they say. If you’ve bought the DVD boxset with English subs and think you’re supporting the show, then I’m sorry to disappoint you, but then it’s just a bootleg. There’s no official boxset out there with English subtitles as far as I know, so if you go ahead and buy a bootleg, then Aya and the people behind the show is not getting paid.

my 1st letter for this blog.
for all the guys and girls who have gathered here although we don’t really know each other this could be the first time or perhaps already for a few times really wanna say i’m really proud with you all how all of you really appreciate after watching this drama it teach me something about how precious is our life as maybe other feels too about how precious our life.
i decide i would stop smoking somehow although it’s hard i must fight until the end watching this aya kato surviving spirit really moved my heart although this movie is a just a tribute to aya kato but not all movie can really made my tears hold for quite sometime without realizing i was crying or confused all i know i feel dozens of feeling mixed up and causing me feeling proud with aya kato hard work.
people please though we cannot afford buying original vcd/dvd or maybe we don’t buy it since we can’t watch without subtitle at least we should do something to send our regards from what i dig it’s say that aya kato real mother is still alive .
i’m looking for any foundation connected directly to her family and donate some of my earning though it’s not much it might show how we care about her daughter.

I’ve tried looking at various sites, but no luck. I saw one subbing group (PBFansubs) specifically saying that they will not release soft subs. Guess you have to redownload. :-(

If you don’t wanna use bittorrent, then the only other option I could find was youtube. If it’s because you can’t figure out how to use bittorrent then I think you should search around, because it’s getting more and more difficult to get anything without it.

I watched up to episode 5 or so with my friend in Taiwan, it was so great (good Japanese practice too)! Sadly, back in America, I can’t get hold of the rest of the episodes. I live on campus, so torrents, megaupload, and rapidshare.de are all blocked by my network. Would somebody be willing to share with me other direct links? My email is charizardflame@yahoo.com and I would appreciate if someone could provide me with these files. In return, I’ll upload the files somewhere else and post the links here, for others that have the same problem as me. Thanks!

i never watch a drama and cry so much like i did for this one.. its like a bucket of tears! i have to keep clicking pause button especially in the ep 11!! watching Aya fighthing day after day really aspire me and make me thinking what if its happen to me, will i be strong as her? May Aya R.I.P

I haven’t tested it yet, as I already bought the DVD version and watched it many times (my cute lil sis and niece were crying, while watching the eps >6, especially the finale. I’m real guy, so no need to cry. ha ha ha ha!) Yet, i feel reaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllyy touched (deep within my heart lol!), when watching this dorama. Good performance by all actresses and actors, especially Erika-san (she’s so kawaaaiiii in this dorama!) and Kidou-san, too (though he’s fiction char). But truly, this dorama really alter my view about life. That’s what I can share.
BTW, I’ve downloaded all resources posted here (theme songs, soundtracks, guitar piano chords, English translation of OST) So, DOMO ARIGATOU GOZAIMASU, TO ANYONE WHO POSTED THAT VALUABLE RESOURCES. This site is so great!

okay okay i havent posted up here for a while…hrms…this is too much…i love it though…hrms…and i have the DVD collection…cause i love this…but i cant get enough of it…imma buy a portable dvd player so i can watch it any where…and i also want this on the computer so i can wathc it too..eventhough own the dvd…hahaha man…I LOVE THIS…i have the songs…but not on url…so GOMEN NASAI…and man i want TO GO TO JAPAN!

Also I found out that there’s a torrent from the same Fansub as in the other episodes you have uploaded. It’s in Isohunt and it is working. Not as fast as a direct download but if anyone wants it, i’ll seed it.

hi… i’m from indonesia and a big fan of 1 litre of tears.. it took me by surprise that now indonesian TV is doing 1 litre of tears too, in indonesian version! From what i gathered through the trailer, few of the originaL dorama is shown(n copied exactly), for example, Aya n mizuno-sensei’s scene in the first eps, as well as the scene when Aya starts to walk difficultly. Indonesian tv may always has been lacking in ideas (n i’m not ashamed to admit it) n some of korean dramas as well as j-dorama’s ideas were copied, mostLy never (yes, never!) nearLy as good as the originaL one. The title is renamed into “Buku Harian Nayla” or in english pretty much means Nayla’s diary- they change the Aya’s name into Nayla. the girl who plays Aya may be good at least she’s cute, but i’ve seen the doctor n her mom’s actors, n they are just basically common actors.. I’m not quite sure of whether they have permission to redo this dorama (esp from Aya’s relatives), i couldn’t find any of the detailes in internet.. well in indonesia permissions and copyrights are never not ignored ^^’ but oh well, it’s just going to be sad that Aya’s touching story will be very poorly re-told…
