I watched it and I thought it was great. :) I cried alot in the episode when Aya’s brother had the soocer game and he didn’t speak up to her when his soccer mates were making fun of her. And when Asou-kan or whatever that guys name is said that he liked her in the disability school, I cried alot. Haha and I watched all 11 episodes in one day.

I think asou-kun at the last part go back to his high school with the deep memories of his girl friend. At the last part, Aya said “Live-on”, I think Asou-Kun will do that. He will live on, and do the best of his job, to be the best doctor in the world to cure the dissease that take away his girl friend that he beloved. I think he will be the one who find out the way to cure that disease (As in literature meaning, not in sience, be cause Asou-kun juz a imaginary friend, to make the story much more beautiful)

that’s all what i think. The Drama have many meaning, that it’s will show u the way of life, that’s why I like it…

I don’t understand Japanese at all and I’m sure that’s the case with every single person out there who downloads the fansubbed episodes. There’s no way in hell I’m shelling out $209.25 for the 1 Litre Of Tears boxset (http://global.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/code-j/section-videos/pid-1004122433/) if I don’t understand anything they say. If you’ve bought the DVD boxset with English subs and think you’re supporting the show, then I’m sorry to disappoint you, but then it’s just a bootleg. There’s no official boxset out there with English subtitles as far as I know, so if you go ahead and buy a bootleg, then Aya and the people behind the show is not getting paid.

My suggestion is that you have the subbed episodes available for download as planned. I mean the more people who download and watch the show the more awareness is created about Aya’s disease.

i decide i would stop smoking somehow although it’s hard i must fight until the end watching this aya kato surviving spirit really moved my heart although this movie is a just a tribute to aya kato but not all movie can really made my tears hold for quite sometime without realizing i was crying or confused all i know i feel dozens of feeling mixed up and causing me feeling proud with aya kato hard work.

people please though we cannot afford buying original vcd/dvd or maybe we don’t buy it since we can’t watch without subtitle at least we should do something to send our regards from what i dig it’s say that aya kato real mother is still alive .

i’m looking for any foundation connected directly to her family and donate some of my earning though it’s not much it might show how we care about her daughter.

I haven’t tested it yet, as I already bought the DVD version and watched it many times (my cute lil sis and niece were crying, while watching the eps >6, especially the finale. I’m real guy, so no need to cry. ha ha ha ha!) Yet, i feel reaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllyy touched (deep within my heart lol!), when watching this dorama. Good performance by all actresses and actors, especially Erika-san (she’s so kawaaaiiii in this dorama!) and Kidou-san, too (though he’s fiction char). But truly, this dorama really alter my view about life. That’s what I can share.
BTW, I’ve downloaded all resources posted here (theme songs, soundtracks, guitar piano chords, English translation of OST) So, DOMO ARIGATOU GOZAIMASU, TO ANYONE WHO POSTED THAT VALUABLE RESOURCES. This site is so great!

hi… i’m from indonesia and a big fan of 1 litre of tears.. it took me by surprise that now indonesian TV is doing 1 litre of tears too, in indonesian version! From what i gathered through the trailer, few of the originaL dorama is shown(n copied exactly), for example, Aya n mizuno-sensei’s scene in the first eps, as well as the scene when Aya starts to walk difficultly. Indonesian tv may always has been lacking in ideas (n i’m not ashamed to admit it) n some of korean dramas as well as j-dorama’s ideas were copied, mostLy never (yes, never!) nearLy as good as the originaL one. The title is renamed into “Buku Harian Nayla” or in english pretty much means Nayla’s diary- they change the Aya’s name into Nayla. the girl who plays Aya may be good at least she’s cute, but i’ve seen the doctor n her mom’s actors, n they are just basically common actors.. I’m not quite sure of whether they have permission to redo this dorama (esp from Aya’s relatives), i couldn’t find any of the detailes in internet.. well in indonesia permissions and copyrights are never not ignored ^^’ but oh well, it’s just going to be sad that Aya’s touching story will be very poorly re-told…

It Called “Buku Harian Nayla” or “Nayla’s Diary”. I think it’s an act of plagiarism. The character, plot, dialog is almost the same as 1 litre of tears. It broadcasted on local TV Station called “RCTI”.

I’m not sure if they have the license for it. Pls anyone help me to report it to FujiTV, or anyone that has authorization on it. This plagiarism is makes me sick……..

I’ve been watching this drama for 3 times. The first time i watched it,I jus cant describe my feeling..its deeply sadness over my mind all the times. Since episode 2, started balling. I cried everytime when “KONAYUKI” song started.

Ako defended Aya against his brother made me so sad in episode 6. I couldnt stop crying in episode 8 when Aya’s classmate said something bad about her and the scene where Aya cried with Asou kun on the bridge…KONAYUKI scene on the bridege made more sadness with the song together.

The last scene in episode 10 where Aya cried in hospital said she already pass the “broke up letter” to Asou kun. Aya said she felt painful to be with Asou kun cause she was physicaly different with him. T.T

Whats a great movie. Let everybody know about this movie.

Anyhoo, I got my hand onto a performance by “K” playing “Only Human” in a shopping center with Erika looking on promoting “1 litre”. Although I have seen this on YouTube already. Along with this clip I also have the follow on on stage interview with K & Erika but it’s in RAW format. If anyone’s interested then leave a post here and I’ll upload it.

Now a second challenge to everyone out there. Prior to “1 Litre” premier, there was a one hour special showing behind the scene, interview, background story of Aya etc. Again the format I saw was YouTube with Chinese Sub. Anyone has this in Media Player format and English sub then I’ll be forever in your debt.

Now if anyone can help me locate the one hour special on “1 litre” (Window Media Format please) then I’ll be most grateful. Just to get everyone interested, it show case behind the scene footage including Aya’s real mum visiting the set. Also Erika visiting the Aya’s photo exhibition. Some scene are quite touching, like Yakushimaru Hiroko started crying when talking to Aya’s Mum.

Anyway please please could someone locate it? I have searched high and low but to no avail.

Seems to be a bit of confusion here with “One Litre of Tears” & Taiyou no Uta” (A Song to the Sun).

One Litre of Tears was released Oct 05 by Fuji TV, Erika Sawajiri plays Aya Ikeuchi based on the real person Aya Kito. However the story is part fictional in that it was loosely base on the book by Aya Kito with added fictional events and characters such as Haruto Aso played by Ryo Nishikido. Hence Aya Kito name changed to Aya Ikeuchi.

The movie version One Litre of Tears was played by Asae Onishi, interestingly was the same girl in the TV version that played the roommate of Aya when she was in the disability school. In the movie version, it was based closely to the book hence the main character there remained as Aya Kito. In terms of performance I personally think Asae portrayed a more convincing disabled person than Erika. But in terms of sadness factor I personally think the TV version win hands down.

For “Taiyou no Uta” it was released Aug 06 by TBS, Erika Sawajiri plays the lead of Kaoru Amane who is a street singer but suffering from an incurable disease. This story however was entirely fictional and has no link to One Litre of Tears. Erika had to take a crash course in guitar playing to tackle the role.

The movie version of “Taiyou no Uta” was released Jun 06, YUI plays the lead of Kaoru Amane. YUI is a singer in real life with a style very much like “Jewel”. This was her first movie and unlike Erika had to learn acting to tackle the role. I personally thought she did a good job as a first movie.

There you go, hopefully that clears up the whole thing a bit.

Now just looking forward to that “One Litre of Tears” special in Japan.

This movie was quite a hit for me personally. I’m truly inspired.
Aya’s character is strong, optimistic and positive. The family.. oh my gosh… it’s such a loving family. Her parents are such a great support for Aya. I can’t imagine if I’m on their shoe. Maybe I would be down and turn my focus on the other child coz simply they have more future. However, Aya’s parents are incredible. They kept on her side until the very end without giving up. What a true love..
It inspired me on the way I would see about life.
Their effort in believing and supporting Aya is not in vain, as Aya has inspired and touched many life of others.
I really love this film and I’m gonna treasure it.

I’m still here and have been keeping an eye on the forum. Unfortunately can’t contribute too much now adays as I have given all that I have. The only thing that I haven’t add yet is the TV special that was aired last year in April. However I have seen others already contributed so didn’t think my service is needed.

Having said that if anyone wants it I’m more than happy to post it to this wonderful site started by Dennis (great work! my man)

As a footnote, I’m not sure if everyone in this forum felt the same. Ever since “1 litre” I have been chasing the eluvise dorama that can take over “1 litre”. There has been a few good ones lately from Japan but unfortunately none has ever come close. “1 litre” still remans for me the best and the most uplifting dorama there ever is. Does everyone agreed?

Yeah it’s the 3 hrs special I’m talking about. Which to be honest I thought was a cheap shot of rehashing old footage but add in a very few new scene to keep the interest up. Still, I laped it up as I still love “1 litre”.

I’m still chasing the episode that was aired just before the show went on air in Japan ever since and would dearly love to hear from anyone that has it. I know Youtube has a version of it but the quality we all know is less than average, plus it’s only in Chinese sub title.

I said it before and I’ll say it again. Here’s some teaser to get everyone interested. I have seen it and it has a very moving scene where Sawajiri Erika visited the Aya’s photo museum with the real Aya’s Mum and she broke down in tears. There’s a scene where the real Aya’s Mum visited the “1 litre” film set and broke down in tears when speaking to the cast. It was VERY moving. I so want to see it properly if anyone has it and believe me have been searching for it whereever possible.

It is also sad because Aya is only 15 and she have a disease that cannot be crule. As i watched 1 litre of tears,my heart kept skipping beats and i often found myself crying uncontrollably…this is really a great show that truly illustrate the pain and sorrow of Kitou Aya and all those suffering from Spinocerebellar Ataxia.Moreover this show have really opened my eyes on my surrounds,I who is never satisfied with what I have,more or less like Ako(in the show)…so now that i have changed,i feel like living in order to help others and brighten their days…this may sound childish but i now feel like following the path of my father and become a doctor and in becoming so hope that I too will be able to help science progress….
